NARLAI RELIEF RIDE
JANUARY 25th to FEBRUARY 9th 2011 Day1: January 25th
Arrive in Delhi and spend the night at a beautiful boutique hotel.
Day2: January 26th
Enjoy the morning at your leisure and the afternoon sightseeing on a guided tour of New Delhi. After an early dinner we will depart for the train station where we will board the overnight train to Rani.
Day 3: January 27th
Sunrise transfer via coach from Rani to The Rawla Narlai for an introductory breakfast to RRI and its 15-day program. This simple yet elegant 17th century hunting retreat of the Maharaja of Jodhpur is located in the heart of the arid Aravalli Hills. It will serve as our initial base camp and departure point for the Relief Ride. Stroll around in the afternoon touring the lodge or village. After light refreshments in the late afternoon we’ll gather around to meet the horses for a casual ride through the breathtaking landscape of the Aravelli Hills.
Day 4: January 28th
After an early breakfast we’ll organize into teams to plan and manage relief supplies for the whole trip. Shortly thereafter we will depart Rawla Narlai on horseback to Gudha Akheraj. Our ride will take us through a range of varied terrain from sandy dunes to farmed millet fields. The landscape is peppered with Sambhar deer, water buffalo and Blue Bulls. We’ll overnight in our tented encampment on the outskirts of GUDHA AKHERAJ.
Day 5: January 29th
In the morning we will deliver livestock to families in Gudha Akheraj. We will return to the village that afternoon to treat and deliver educational materials to the children at the local school. Overnight in our tented encampment on the outskirts of GUDHA AKHERAJ.
Day 6: January 30th
The ride from Gudha Akheraj to Anji Khi Dani will take us through more fascinating terrain punctuated by large crumbling rock formations. Exotic birds and wildlife will accompany us on our ride. Overnight in our tented encampment on the outskirts of ANJI KHI DANI.
Day 7: January 31st
Anji Khi Dani is a charming small village nestled at the foot of the Aravelli range. We plan on visiting a school in order to de-worm school children and deliver educational materials in the morning. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon reading in the shade by your tent or visit with the locals in the village. Overnight in our tented encampment on the outskirts of ANJI KHI DANI.
Day 8: February 1st
we’ll ride from Anji Khi Dhani to the oasis at Khantaliya. Prepare to be awed by the amount of wildlife varying from Black Buck, Chinkara’s, Blue Bulls, desert foxes and a colorful array of birds in all shapes and sizes on our ride to the oasis. Our campsite nestled on the edge of the oasis at Khantaliya is truly magical as the oasis serves as a very active watering hole for the local wildlife. Overnight in our tented encampment on the outskirts of KHANTALIYA.
Day 10: February 2nd
Enjoy a restful morning around the Oasis at Khantaliya.
Prepare yourself for an afternoon of unforgettable fun as you and your fellow riders compete with each other in our exciting Ball and Bucket races or Musical Horse Games! This dynamic afternoon is highly attended by the local community and provides a wonderful opportunity to leisurely interact with them. Overnight in our tented encampment on the outskirts of KHANTALIYA
Day 11: February 3rd
Ride from Khantaliya to Singhpura. The day’s ride will take us along side hills and through a variety of colorful villages. Our midday lunch break will be taken on the edge of a tranquil lake. The afternoon promises a soft and sandy terrain, allowing for a smooth paced canter to our tented encampment nestled at the bottom of a giant rock outcrop. Overnight in our tented encampment on the outskirts of SINGHPURA.
Day 12: February 4th
We will be de-worming and distributing educational materials to children at the local school in Sabalpura. After lunch we will depart for Nimaaj where we will prepare for the next day’s dental camp. We will stay at Nimaaj Bagh, a stunning hunting lodge located on the outskirts of the village of Nimaaj.
Day 13: February 5th
Nimaaj Free Dental Camp day. Riders support the team of dentists offering treatments and minor surgeries by registering, screening and triaging villagers eligible for treatment. This camp will run for two days in hopes to offer minor surgeries to 50 villagers and treat up to 400 patients. Schedule permitting we will head out for a sunset ride. Overnight at Nimaaj Bagh.
Day 14: February 6th
We will depart early for a 4 hour drive via AC coach to Jaipur, where we will check into the Narain Niwas Haveli Hotel and have lunch. The afternoon can be devoted to lounging around the Haveli’s beautiful pool or traveling with a guide to the famous City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort and the Hawa Mahal. At the Amber Palace experience the beautiful facades turning different colors depending on how the sun reflects on them. A stop at the Palace of Winds is also amazing. Previous riders suggest going across to the top floor shop for great pictures. Keep an eye out for snake charmers!
Day 15: February 7th
Enjoy the elegance of Narain Niwas Haveli by strolling around its gardens. We’ll gather for a farewell lunch prior to departing via coach at 2.00 pm for Delhi or IGI.
