** We welcome novice riders, slower riders can ride alongside the caravan. Riders may choose to finish any segment by riding in our accompanying jeep. If you have a member of your party who would like to join the trip but is not a rider, RRI can make provisions for him/her to accompany us in a Camel Cart or an AC SUV Jeep.
February 22 – March 4, 2027
Day 1 – February 22
Arrive in Delhi and transfer to a beautiful boutique hotel. Enjoy a peaceful evening to rest and prepare for the days of riding, service, and desert adventure ahead. Overnight in Delhi.
Day 2 – February 23
Spend the morning at your leisure and, in the afternoon, explore New Delhi on a guided sightseeing tour, discovering its rich history and vibrant streets. After an early dinner, transfer to the train station to board the overnight train to Bikaner. Settle into your berth and rest as the journey carries you toward the expansive desert landscapes of the Thar.
Day 3 – February 24
Arrive early morning at Bikaner and transfer by jeep (approx. 1 hour) through rolling sand dunes to our first tented camp in Deshnok, keeping an eye out for herds of camels and playful young calves along the way. Begin the day with a visit to a local school to conduct our educational program, distributing learning materials and sporting equipment. Afterward, gift livestock to widows and families living below the poverty line, providing fresh nutrition and the potential to generate income at their local market at the Goddess Temple. Later, experience one of the ride’s highlights—the Karni Mata Temple, known as the Rat Temple—followed by an early evening casual ride to get acquainted with your horses. Overnight in the dunes at our tented camp in Deshnok.
Day 4 – February 25
Set out from Deshnok to Dhingsiri, riding through dune-filled landscapes alive with the possibility of spotting chinkara gazelles, desert mongooses, or foxes. This region is home to the Bishnoi tribe, renowned for their conservation practices dating back to the early 15th century. Overnight at our tented camp on the outskirts of Dhingsiri.

Day 5 – February 26
Ride into Dhingsiri for a school visit, engaging with students, teaching health and hygiene through our hand-washing program, and distributing educational materials and sporting equipment. In the early afternoon, gift livestock to widows and families living below the poverty line, providing fresh nutrition and the potential to generate income at their local market. Overnight at our tented encampment in Dhingsiri.
Day 6 – February 27
Ride from Dhingsiri to Kakku across soft, sandy terrain perfect for easy riding. Along the way, spot wildlife including blue bulls grazing freely and climb a large sand dune crowned with a small temple for panoramic views of the desert. As you approach Kakku, visit the Samrathal Dhora Temple, sacred to the Bishnoi community. Overnight at our tented camp on the outskirts of Kakku.

Day 7 – February 28
Dedicate the day to purposeful work at our free eye and dental camp, providing cataract surgeries and dental treatments to the villagers of Kakku. The camp operates from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., or until all patients have been treated. Overnight at our tented camp on the outskirts of Kakku.
Day 8 – March 1
Continue our work at the eye and dental camp in Kakku. The camp operates from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., or until all patients have been treated. In the evening, enjoy a cultural program with the local villagers. Overnight at our tented camp on the outskirts of Kakku.

Day 9 – March 2
Ride from Kakku to Khimsar through vibrant terrain. Along the way, visit a local school to conduct our educational program, distributing learning materials and sporting equipment. In the afternoon, gift livestock to widows and families living below the poverty line. Overnight at Khimsar Desert Camp.
Day 10 – March 3
Early departure from Khimsar to Jaipur via air-conditioned coach (5-6 hours drive). Enjoy the late afternoon at your leisure, relaxing at the hotel pool. Overnight at Niravi Haveli, Jaipur.
Day 11 – March 4
Check out by 12:00. Post-lunch departure by coach to Delhi/transfer to airports for return flights.

Travel Requirements

Travel Documents
To travel to India for tourism, business or studies you are required to have a valid passport and an entry visa. Visas are issued in Indian Embassies or Missions. E-Visas can now be granted upon arrival at certain airports in India.
A person applying for a visa must have a passport that will be valid for a minimum of six months beyond the date of their intended departure from India. So make sure to renew your passport if it is due to expire within that period of time.
Tourist Visas
Entry visas for tourists are generally issued for six months from the date of issue. If you intend to visit neighboring countries and re-enter India, ask for a six months visa with a request for multiple entries.
